Azienda Agricola Maso Doss

On the steep slopes of Capriana, an old mountain farm has come back to life through organic farming rooted in biodiversity, respect for the land and a deep connection with its surroundings.

It all began with an old abandoned mountain farm, which in 2019 was given a new life as the heart of Azienda Agricola Maso Doss. Here, on the steep slopes of Capriana, the land is cultivated with the understanding that caring for it first and foremost means respecting the place that provides it.

It is a diverse kind of farming, shaped by the seasons. The fields are home to saffron, a wide variety of vegetables, potatoes and strawberries, including two particularly resilient varieties, as well as table grapes and PIWI wine grapes, chosen for their natural resistance to the main fungal diseases.

The diversity extends beyond the fields. Beekeeping plays an important role in the life of the farm, while the chicken coop is home to Sulmtaler hens, which provide the farm’s eggs. Together, these activities create a small and diverse agricultural ecosystem, where each part contributes to a balance with the surrounding environment.

Respect for nature is at the heart of the farm’s everyday work. Maso Doss follows organic farming practices, focusing on prevention and careful agronomic management rather than the use of plant protection products. When treatments are needed, the farm also relies on homemade herbal decoctions, prepared directly on the farm.

At Maso Doss, the countryside is not simply a place to grow food: it is an environment to understand, care for and protect. It is the story of an old mountain farm brought back to life, and of an agricultural approach that looks to the future by starting with the land and respecting everything that grows and lives around it.
